John Sparkman was an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Alabama, from January 3, 1937 to November 6, 1946, the 11th Majority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives, from January 1, 1946 to November 6, 1946, and a U.S. Senator from Alabama, from November 6, 1946 to January 3, 1979.
John was the Democratic Party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States in 1952.
John was the son of Julia Mitchell (Kent) and Joseph Whitten Sparkman.
