Sammy Hagar, also known as The Red Rocker, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and entrepreneur. He has previously been the lead singer of the rock bands Montrose and Van Halen, among others, and is currently the lead singer of the supergroups Chickenfoot and The Circle.
In his book Are We Having Any Fun Yet?: The Cooking & Partying Handbook, Sammy wrote that both his maternal grandparents were from Sicily. He has also described himself as “half Italian, half Southern redneck”.
There are many claims on the internet that Sammy is of Lebanese descent. It does not appear that these are accurate.
Sammy’s maternal grandfather was named Sam Baio.
