Mark Pontius is an American musician and songwriter. He is the drummer and co-vocalist of the indie pop band Foster the People.
Mark is the son of Harriet S. and Lawrence Lee “Larry” Pontius.
Mark’s paternal grandfather was Bert Everette Pontius (the son of William Oscar Pontius and Ethel Z. Gotts). William was the son of Levi Pontius and Sarah Catharine Butler. Ethel was the daughter of English parents, George G. Gotts and Anne Woolsey.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Jaunetti Ione Norton (the daughter of Noel Alfred Norton and Vernal E. Keltner). Noel was the son of William H. Norton, whose parents were from New York, and Alice Nixon, whose parents were Irish. Vernal was the daughter of James A. Keltner and Alice V. Thatcher.
