John Hickenlooper is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as Governor of Colorado, since January 11, 2011. He has also been Mayor of Denver, from July 21, 2003 to January 11, 2011, and Chair of the National Governors Association, from July 13, 2014 to July 25, 2015.
John is the son of Anne Kennedy (Morris) and John Wright Hickenlooper.
John’s paternal grandfather was Smith Hickenlooper (the son of Andrew Hickenlooper and Maria Lloyd Smith). John’s grandfather Smith was was a judge on the Superior Court of Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1918 to 1923. Andrew was an officer, who served as a General in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Andrew was the son of Andrew Heckenlooper and Abigail Cox. Maria was the daughter of Adolphus Harry Smith and Sarah E. Bates.
John’s paternal grandmother was Ann Bailey Wright (the daughter of Gordon Reynolds Wright and Cecelia Doughty).
