Julian McMahon is an Australian actor and model. He is the son of Sonia McMahon (born Sonia Rachel Hopkins), a philanthropist and socialite, and William McMahon, who served as Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972, among other positions in Australian politics.
Julian’s paternal grandparents were William Daniel McMahon (the son of James McMahon and Mary Coyle) and Mary Ellen Amelia Walder (the daughter of Samuel Walder and Mary Ann Hatton). William’s parents were Irish. Julian’s grandmother Mary was the sister of Samuel Walder (Samuel Robert Walder), who was Lord Mayor of Sydney, Australia in 1932.
Julian’s maternal grandparents were William Edward Hopkins (the son of William Marcellus Cunningham Hopkins and Caroline Wood) and Rachel May Matchett (the daughter of William George Matchett and Sarah Mary Eliza Lilla Dent). William Matchett was a wealthy grazier.
