Anabel’s father’s ancestry is British Isles/English, one quarter Ashkenazi Jewish, and one eighth Bohemian (Czech). Her mother is of part Scottish descent.
Anabel’s paternal grandfather was editor, director, producer, and actor George Englund (born George Howe Ripley; the son of Harold Austin “Rip” Ripley and Mabel Albertson). George was adopted by his mother’s second husband, Ken Englund, whose surname he adopted; the surname Englund is Swedish.
Anabel’s great-grandfather Harold, a syndicated newspaper columnist for the Chicago Tribune, was the son of George H. Ripley and Julia C. Waters. Mabel, an actress, was the daughter of Russian Jewish parents, Leopold “Leo” Albertson and Flora Craft. Mabel’s brother, Anabel’s great-great-uncle, was actor, comedian, dancer, singer, and musician Jack Albertson.
Anabel’s paternal grandmother is actress and comedian Cloris Leachman (the daughter of Berkeley “Buck” Claiborne Leachman and Cloris Votruba Wallace). Berkeley was the son of Robert Parker Leachman and Rose Claiborne. Cloris was the daughter of Everett Oren Wallace and Bertha Votruba, whose parents were Bohemian Czech.
