Hiram Johnson was an American politician. He was Governor of California, from January 3, 1911 to March 15, 1917, and a U.S. Senator from California, from March 16, 1917 to August 6, 1945.

He was the Bull Moose Party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States in 1912, the running mate of Theodore Roosevelt. He was also a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 1920 and 1924.

Hiram was the son of Ann/Annie Williamson (de Montfredy) and Grove L. Johnson (Grove Lawrence Johnson), who was a U.S. Representative, from California.

Hiram’s paternal grandfather was Quincy Adams Johnson (the son of Jonah Johnson and Jerusha Towne). Quincy was born in Massachusetts. Jonah was the son of Solomon Johnson and Sarah Johnson. Jerusha was the daughter of Eliphalet Town and Jerusha Rogers.

Hiram’s paternal grandmother was named Juliet Josephine Reddington.

Hiram’s maternal grandfather was Albert de Montfredy (the son of L. De Montfredy and G.). Hiram’s grandfather Albert was born in Connecticut.
