Zach Helm is an American screenwriter, director, and producer.

Zach is the son of Brenda K. (Merillat) and Thomas Bradford “Tom” Helm. He is married to musician and songwriter Michelle Featherstone, with whom he has a daughter.

Zach’s paternal grandparents were surnamed Helm and Carson.

Zach’s maternal grandfather was Donald Duane “Don” Merillat (the son of David D. Merillat and Irma G. Smith). Donald was born in Indiana. David was born in Indiana, the son of August Merillat, who was from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and of Margaret Marguerite McKeeman, whose parents were Irish. Irma was born in Indiana, the daughter of James M. Smith and Elizabeth Mary “Lizzie” Yeagar, whose parents were German.

Zach’s maternal grandmother was Alida G. Spawn (the daughter of Albert Spawn and Ada Amanda Klumpner/Lumpner). Alida was born in South Dakota. Albert was born in South Dakota, the son of Lewis Spawn and Lydia Florine Bishop. Ada was born in South Dakota, the daughter of Peter Klumpner, whose father was Dutch, and of Julia Marie Hare.
