Ben Folds is an American musician and record producer. He was the vocalist and pianist of the alternative rock band Ben Folds Five.
His father, Carlos Dean Folds, is a carpenter. His mother, Sylvia Scott (Kellam), is a painter.
Ben was married to songwriter Anna Harris Goodman, Kate Rosen, Australian musician Frally Hynes, and Fleur Stanbrook, all of which ended up in divorce. Ben and Frally has two children.
Ben’s maternal grandfather was Charles Edgar Kellam, Jr. (the son of Charles Edgar Kellam and Hattie Anna Hicks). Ben’s grandfather Charles was born in High Point, North Carolina. Ben’s great-grandfather Charles was the son of Samuel Alford Kellam and Frances Catherine Parker. Anna was the daughter of James Franklin Hicks and Mary Charlotte Wright.
Ben’s maternal grandmother was Lois Mae Scott (the daughter of Olie Odham Scott and America Ann Watson). Lois was born in New Madrid, Missouri. Olie was the son of Wiley Washington Scott and Armilda M. Fitzgerald.
