Duff McKagan is an American musician and writer. He is known as the bassist of the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses. He is the son of Marie Alice (Harrington) and Elmer Lucius “Mac” McKagan, Jr. He is married to Susan Holmes. He was previously married to Mandy Brix.
Duff’s paternal grandparents were Elmer Lucius McKagan, Sr. (the son of Benjamin “Bing” McKagan and Elsie Sarah Wilcox) and Mary Russell Flournoy (the daughter of Fitzhugh Jeter Flournoy and Elizabeth Russell Jones).
Duff’s maternal grandparents were John Valentine Harrington (the son of Dennis Harrington and Julia Urban Harrington) and Elizabeth M. Van Snyders (the daughter of Francis M. Van Snyders and Mary G. Twellmeyer). John was an Irish immigrant, from Castletown Berehaven, County Cork. Dennis and Julia were born with the same surname. Mary’s parents were German immigrants.
