Sasha Banks is an American professional wrestler and actor. She is known for her work in WWE and her role as Koska Reeves in The Mandalorian. She is a cousin of Snoop Dogg.
Sasha’s father, Reo Varnado, is African-American. His brother, Vernell Varnado, is Snoop Dogg’s father. He has been featured on Snoop Dogg’s television show “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Party Challenge”. Reo was born in Mississippi, the son of Mennie Felder and William Varnado. Sasha’s paternal third great-grandfather, Robert Varnado, was born in Mississippi. He is listed as “Mulatto” in the 1870, 1880, and 1910 Censuses. Robert’s father was Samuel Vernadeau, a slaveowner who was the son of Leonard Vernadeau and Sarah Hutto/Huttow, both immigrants to Colonial South Carolina. Leonard emigrated from France. Sarah emigrated from Germany. Robert’s mother was a slave named Diner Varnado.
Sasha’s paternal great-great grandmother, Minverva Walls, was the daughter of a slave and a slaveowner named Charles Jedediah Walls. Charles was born in South Carolina of English, German, and Irish descent. He was a descendant of settlers in Colonial America.
Sasha’s mother, Judith Kaestner, was born in Iowa. Sasha’s maternal grandparents, Richard Kaestner and Mae Rinderknecht, were born in Iowa. All of Sasha’s maternal third great-grandparents emigrated from Germany to the U.S. in the 1800s. One of her maternal third great-grandfathers, Heinrich/Henry Axelsen (Mae’s great-grandfather), was of Danish descent.
