Jody Lawrance was an American actress.
She is the youngest of three children of Ervin Silliman “Doc” Goddard and Eleanor Barbara Roeck.
Her paternal grandparents were Charles Walter Goddard (who is of mostly English ancestry) and Mary Ernest Boyd (who is of Irish and English ancestry). Her grandfather’s parents were Greenlee Goddard and Eliza Alberty of Arkansas. Her grandmother hailed from Sumter County, Alabama and is the daughter of Thomas James Boyd and Mary Augusta Silliman, who were stepsiblings. After the death of Thomas’s mother Eliza Amanda Key, his father Matthew Harper Boyd married Mary’s mother Susan Maria Farrar, the widow of Thomas Silliman.
Jody’s maternal grandparents were John Frederick Roeck and Nettie Lawrence (or Lawrance) Wilson. Both were from Texas. John’s father, also named John Frederick Roeck was born in Lübeck, Germany. His mother, Kate Summers Waters, was from Alabama. Nettie’s parents, Leonidas Ferninand Wilson and Sarah Orpha Frances Bowman were from Texas.
Jody’s parents divorced when she was very young. Her father subsequently married a film editor Clara Grace McKee-Evans (née Atchinson) in 1935 as her third husband. Grace was a friend and co-worker of Gladys Baker and became a legal guardian of her daughter, who would later be known to the world as Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn was enumerated in the 1940 US Census in the household of Ervin and Grace Goddard.
Her first cousin Nona Blossom Goddard (1930-2010), daughrer of Ervin’s brother Walter Crosswaite Goddard, was the widow of Congressman Richard Walker Bolling.
She was a fifth cousin of B-movie actress Carol Forman, née Maude Carolyn Sawls (1919-1997). They share a set of fourth generation great-grandparents Jeremiah Dial (born in County Cork, Ireland) and Margaret Lavender Montgomery (born in County Dublin, Ireland), who are the maternal grandparents of Jody’s great-great-grandfather Matthew Harper Boyd.
