Phil Lord is an American filmmaker, producer, and writer. His filmmaking partner is Christopher Miller. Together they created sitcom Clone High, and directed films Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street and its sequel, 22 Jump Street, among other titles.

His father is mostly of English, Scottish, and Scots-Irish/Northern Irish descent. His mother has Cuban and possibly other ancestry. On his mother’s side, he is a cousin of television producer and director Anthony Dominici.

Phil’s paternal grandfather was William Walcott Lord (the son of John Anderson Lord and Elinor Lawton Carter). William was born in Maine. John was born in Massachusetts, the son of Charles William Lord and Anne Hichborn Anderson. Elinor was born in Massachusetts, the daughter of John Carter and Isabella Walcott Ward.

Phil’s paternal grandmother was abstract painter and sculptor Fonchen Lord (born Florence Richardson Usher, the daughter of Roland Greene Usher and Florence Wyman Richardson). Fonchen was from Missouri. Roland was born in Massachusetts, the son of Edward Preston Usher and Adela Louise Payson. Phil’s great-grandmother Florence was born in Missouri, the daughter of James Albert Richardson and Florence Wyman.
