Jonathan was the son of Dorothy Louise (Rogers) and Robert Eugene Demme, a public relations executive. He was raised in Rockville Centre, New York and Miami.
Jonathan’s paternal grandfather was Eugene Demme (the son of William Demme and Marguerite). Eugene was born in Farmingdale, Monmouth, New Jersey. William was born in Germany, whereas it seems Marguerite was born in Pennsylvania and so were her parents.
