Stephen Hawking is a British physicist, cosmologist, and author. He is the Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology, at the University of Cambridge. He suffers from motor neurone disease, that has gradually paralyzed almost his entire body. Stephen is the son of Isobel Eileen (Walker) and Frank Hawking. His father was English and his mother was Scottish.
Stephen’s paternal grandparents were Robert Hawking (the son of John Hawking and Hannah Atkinson) and Mary Lund Atkinson (the daughter of William Atkinson and Anne Groves).
Stephen’s maternal grandparents were James Walker (the son of Archibald Walker and Janet Audrey Margaret Morris) and Agnes “Nancy” Stevenson Law (the daughter of Andrew Law and Agnes Stevenson).
