Gordie Howe was a Canadian professional ice hockey player.

Gordie’s father, Albert Clarence Howe, was an American immigrant. Gordie’s mother, Katherine “Kate” (Schultz), was a German immigrant, from Stuttgart. Gordie’s younger brother was professional ice hockey player Vic Howe. Gordie was married to Colleen Joffa.

Gordie’s paternal grandfather was James Howe (the son of James Howe and Mary Elizabeth Beswick). Gordie’s great-grandfather James was born in Nymet Tracey (now part of Bow), Devon, England, to William Howe and Elizabeth Heard. Gordie’s great-grandmother Elizabeth was also English, and was the daughter of Thomas Beswick and Mary Wain.

Gordie’s paternal grandmother was Eliza Jane Garrison (the daughter of Nathan Garrison and Electa Jane Burleigh). Nathan was the son of Gideon Garrison and Hannah Salisbury. Electa was the daughter of Ira Burleigh and Miranda B. Potter.

Gordie’s maternal grandparents were Leonard Schultz and Anna Yuchum/Juchim.
