Hubert Humphrey was an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the 38th Vice President of the United States, from January 20, 1965 to January 20, 1969.
He was the Democratic Party’s nominee was President of the United States in 1968. He was also the 35th Mayor of Minneapolis, from July 2, 1945 to November 30, 1948, a U.S. Senator from Minnesota, from January 3, 1949 to December 30, 1964, and again from January 3, 1971 to January 13, 1978, the 14th United States Senate Majority Whip, from January 3, 1961 to December 30, 1964, and the 1st Deputy President pro tempore of the United States Senate, from January 3, 1977 to January 13, 1978. He was a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 1952, 1960, and 1972.
