Elizabeth was a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2000.

Elizabeth is married to politician Bob Dole.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Mary Ella Cathey and John Van Hanford.

Elizabeth’s paternal grandparents were John W. Hanford and Emma P. Emma’s father was Dutch.

Elizabeth’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Pinkney Cathey (the son of Henry Alexander Cathey and Nancy Lauria Cornelius). Joseph was the son of Archibald Cathey and Mary Caldwell. Nancy was the daughter of William Otha Cornelius and Lettie Asbury.
